Cost Accountant

JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE

Under the direction of the CFO, the Cost Accountant is responsible for systemic pricing and costs.  This position will serve as the point person for sales pricing and production/purchasing costs as well as reporting and analyzing product margins.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Point person for systemic pricing and costs.
  • Works with marketing & sales on product pricing.  Ensures pricing set at appropriate margin.
  • Works with production on product costing.  Ensures accuracy of bills of material, yield and labor)
  • Works with purchasing standards, price variances and pursuit of volume discounts.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining product cost control procedures.
  • Responsible for accounting and reporting of product margins.
  • Assist with continuous improvement of product cost (automation, yield, labor efficiency)
  • Assist with physical inventories.
  • Assist in month end close out of inventory perpetual on issues related to costing.
  • Coach, train and direct employees on proper costing procedures.

 

 

SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS

  • Proficient computer skills and working on inventory software and programs.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office products (Excel primarily)
  • Experience in cost accounting practices (bill of material, cost allocation, standards, margins)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate employees to get desired results.
  • Ability to do the follow activities: reaching, stooping, climbing, balancing, lifting, pushing, carrying, driving, sitting, handling paperwork, pulling and gripping items over 50 lbs.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum High School degree or GED is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience directly in manufacturing and cost accounting preferred.
  • Excellent work references.

Quality Assurance Technician

Job Responsibilities

Management of daily Quality Assurance and Food Safety Activities

Perform daily inspections of product quality

Work together with Production Supervisors to ensure products are within specifications on a timely basis.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Food or Meat Science or related field preferred

Familiar with HACCP, GMP’s and SQF/GFSI concepts

Minimum 2 years food industry experience

Critical thinking and decision making

Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Basic math skills

Proficient in Microsoft office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Ability to use, read and calibrate various analytical tools (scales, thermometers, O2 meters, etc.).
